Michelle Coder, Soprano, Music and More Arts Academy Vocal Department Director, holds a BA
in both vocal performance and music education and has done graduate work towards a Masters in
Music Education. Coder has appeared as guest soloist with the Auburn, Chico, Paradise, Lodi
and Camellia Symphonies. Operatic roles nclude: “The Merry Wives of Windsor” (Anne), “Carmen”
(Miceala), “The Magic Flute” (Pamina), “Gianni Schicci” (Lauretta), “Der Fledermaus” (Adele), “Hansel
and Gretel” (Gretel) and “Pirates of Penzance” (Mabel). As a performer, Coder currently specializes in
art song, recital and chamber music ensemble work. She is the co-founder of the Sierra Nevada Camerata
and Auburn Camerata Chamber Ensembles and has premiered chamber music works with Music
Now and for Dr. Russell Burnham at California State University, Chico. Coder performs, primarily,
with the Vernier Duo. The guitar and voice duo have been invited to perform locally as featured artists
on the Twin Cities Concert Association, Sacramento Guitar Society, Crocker Art Museum, Old First
Church, Apollo and Sierra College Concert Series‘ and have toured the western states. Also the
founder of The Auburn Light Opera, Coder has directed productions of Mozart’s “Cosi fan Tutti”,
Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Pirates of Penzance”, Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” and this year’s MMPVA
production of “Quilters”. She has also recently published an original musical “Thumbelina” written
in collaboration with fellow faculty member Gerald Rheault and received grants from the Placer Arts
Council and MMPVA for productions of “Quilters” and “Thumbelina”. This season Coder will be
directing productions of “A Midsummer Nights Dream”, “The Secret Garden” and “The Little Princess”.
Her musical adaptation of "The Little Princess" won the 2004 Elly award for best adapted script.
Coder is the winner of numerous vocal awards including the 1993 National Association of Teachers
of Singing (NATS) Young Artist Award, San Joaquin Chapter and was a finalist in the 1996 Carmel
Young Artist Vocal Competition. Vocal Teachers include Gwen Curatilo, Erie Mills and Joseph
Frank. Michelle has been a vocal instructor at Music and More Arts Academy for twelve years.
She is certified in Orff Schulwerk and is a teacher member of The National Association of
Teachers of Singing. Michelle is also a faculty member of the Vocal Department at Sierra College.

Christopher Bello, Tenor, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has taken post
graduate studies in vocal performance at Louisiana State University. Mr. Bello has sung with opera
companies and performed with symphonies in the southeast and California. He sings with regional symphonies and has sung the tenor solos in Handel’s Messiah as well as singing for numerous
churches and organizations in the greater Sacramento and Placer County areas. Christopher teaches
voice and tuba and is also director of Music & More's Opera Workshop. He is now accepting students.
Kay Coder, Soprano, has a B.A. in voice from California State University, Chico. She has advanced training
in choral & vocal techniques. She has performed as a soloist wiith churches and colleges in northern
California. Kay is founder and Director of Music & More Arts Academy and also teaches voice, piano, theater and the Miniature Musicians early childhood music program which she originated. She has taught music and directed numerous choral ensembles in public and private schools for over thirty years. As a member of the Music and More faculty, and as a public school teacher, she has directed a host of children’s plays and community theater productions. Mrs. Coder holds a B.A. in Vocal Performance and Music Education, a California Teaching Credential K-14 and Orff-Schulwerk Certification. Kay began studying violin at the age of five. In addition to her musical studies, she was a featured soloist with dance bands, regional symphonies and performed frequently in musical theater and opera productions as well as on television. She is a member of Who’s Who Worldwide. Kay currently conducts workshops for public and private schools encouraging teachers to implement integrated arts programs in their curriculum.
Curtis Kidwell, Oboe/ English Horn, holds a B.A. from New World School Of The Arts, a M.A. degree
in Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and has received additional training at San Jose
State University, Hidden Valley Music Seminars and Bowdoin Music Festival. He is currently a
member of the Oboe Faculty at California State University, Sacramento, Music & More Arts Academy
and was a faculty member of Bowdoin Music Festival. He is Principal Oboe with the California Wind
Orchestra, Auburn Symphony, Camellia Symphony, Apollo Symphony, Gold Country Chamber
Orchestra and solo English Horn with Napa Valley Symphony. Curtis was the featured soloist at the
Camellia Symphony’s February 2, 2002 concert “From The City, From The Country”. He has
performed and won honors at the Carmel Chamber Society, Fischoff Chamber Music Competition
and Bowdoin Music Festival Chamber Music Concerts.
Elizabeth Branch McAllister, Clarinet /Saxophone, Recorder, holds a Bachelors of Music in Clarinet Performance, California State University, Northridge and a M.A. in Clarinet Performance from Louisiana State
University. Former teachers include Fred Westphal, Charles Bay, William Hudgins and J. David Harris. Elizabeth has performed with the California Wind Orchestra, Gold Country Chamber Orchestra, Stockton Symphony, Ernst Bloch Festival Orchestra, Raleigh Symphony, North Carolina Theatre Orchestra and the National Opera Orchestra. She currently plays with the Capitol Chamber Players Woodwind Quintet.
Elizabeth served on the faculty at North Carolina Wesleyan College, Meredith College and
Ravenscroft School, North Carolina. She is a member of the International Clarinet Association and
the American Federation of Musicians. Elizabeth is accepting beginning, intermediate and advanced
Clarinet and Saxophone students.
Nora Nausbaum, Flute, holds a Bachelor of. Arts Degree in Music and a M.A. degree in
Flute Performance from New England Conservatory of Music. She plays both classical and jazz in
small northern California ensembles and has taught flute and music appreciation at several colleges
in the South and Midwest. Her current interest is to play jazz and foster the love of music in students.
She has been a certified Alexander Technique Teacher since 1988 after completing a 1600 hour,
3-year training course at the Menlo Park Center, Menlo Park, CA. She is the recipient of a National
Arts Endowment Jazz Study Grant. Nora is accepting beginning to advanced flute students.

Noriko Meguro, Piano, holds a B.M. degree in Piano Performance from Marysville College, Marysville
Tennessee and a M.M. degree in Piano Performance from Wichita State University, Kansas. She has
soloist in the Wichita State University, has studied in Paris, France at the Conservatorie of Paris
accompanied opera singers in Tokyo, Japan and Amherst, MA. She teaches beginning to advanced
students and preparatory training for conservatory.
Steve Miller, Trumpet, attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Oberlin, Ohio, Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, Sierra College and California State University, Sacramento. He holds a Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance and theory/composition, CSUS, June, 2000. He also holds a Masters of Music in composition, CSUS, June, 2002. Michael Coder-Administrator, Theatre Technical Manager is co-owner of Music & More. He
holds a B.A. in Elementary Education, a M.A. in Elementary Curriculum Development and
post graduate work in Elementary Curriculum Studies.. He holds California Standard
Supervision and General Elementary Credentials. He has 13 years experience coordinating
theatre bookings, technical operations, scenery and props for the theatre. He is available to

David Thorp, Violin, Viola, holds a B.M. in Viola Performance from the University of South
Florida in Tampa and a M.M. in Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, New York
City. Currently, he is principal violist for the Apollo Orchestra and for the Auburn Symphony.
He is a violin and viola instructor with the Bach Foundation and a Violist in the Apollo String
Quartet. He has performed as a soloist with the Light Opera of Manhattan and the American
Philharmonic Orchestra of Lincoln Center, New York. David also served in the Cosmopolitan
Orchestra of New York, Chamber Music on Nantucket and at the Aspen Music Festival
Repertory and Philharmonia Orchestras and as a violinist in the Florida Gulf Coast Symphony
Orchestra. David is the Conductor of the Auburn Youth Symphony and teaches viola and violin
at Music & More Arts Academy. He is accepting beginning, intermediate and advanced students.
Ethan Lewis, Violin, began studying violin at the age of five and has training in both
Suzuki and Traditional methods. He is also an accomplished Celtic fiddler, composer and director
and co-founder of "Root Down One," an ensemble featuring original, classical, traditional African,
Jazz and Celtic music. He served as Concert Master of the Auburn Youth Symphony and has played
with the San Francisco Youth Symphony, Auburn Symphony, Reno Symphony, and regional
Chamber Ensembles.
Bill Douglas, String Bass, is an accomplished jazz musician, with 35 years of experience playing
the double bass in many varied musical worlds. He is also noted for his expertise on the bamboo
flute and is on the film score recording of The Black Stallion" and "Never Cry Wolf". Bill has taught
music in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years and was on the faculty of the Cazadero/Aptos
Jazz Camps. He is currently giving school presentations for young audiences of the Bay Area, and
is on the faculty of the Jazzschool in Berkeley. His home studio is located in the Chicago Park and
he is available to teach String Bass, Jazz Vocal Workshops, Bamboo Flute and other Ethnic Instruments at Music and More Arts Academy.
Nan Shaw, Guitar, began formal studies in Santa Barbara with Diego del Monte and
continued with the world-renowned Spanish guitarist Vicente Gomez at the Academy of
Spanish Arts in Los Angeles. She has performed as a solo recitalist, accompanist and
ensemble member. She also teaches guitar at Live Oak Waldorf School and in the California
Arts in Corrections program. She also performs locally for selected community events.
She is accepting classical guitar students.
Chi-Hsin Kao Thorp, Piano, Chi-Xin received her BM degree on piano performance from the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music, summa sum laude; and her MM degree from the California State University Sacramento, focusing on piano pedagogy. Chi-Xin is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Her teachers include Frank Wiens and Rex Cooper at the University of the Pacific and Richard Cionco, Lorna Peters (harpishord) at California State University, Sacramento.
A dedicated piano teacher, Chi-Xin continues to investigate traditional and current piano teaching methods, attending workshops for Taubman’s Approach at the Golandsky Institute, Princeton, New Jersey and Dr. Faina Bryanskays’s Holistic Piano Learning Workshop, Boston, Massachusetts. One of her students won first prize in the Regional Exchange Club Music Competition 2007. She has collaborated with singers, instrumentalists and accompanied theater, ballet, eurhythmic performance and church/school choirs.
Chi-Xin believes every child is gifted; and her aim is to open a door for the child to the wonder of music-one of the great satisfactions in life. She patiently and lovingly guides your child to build confidence, discipline and a natural way of playing that will help the child to enjoy music fully.
Alexandra Katchouguina (Sasha), Cellist, holds a B.A.in Music from Novosibirsk Glinka
State Conservatory of Music, Russia and a Teaching Certificate from Music College,
Novosibirsk, Russia. As a performer, she has served as Principal Cellist, Apollo Orchestra,
Oregon House, CA, Cellist, Auburn Sympohony, Auburn, CA, Assistant Principal Cellist,
North State Symphony, Chico, CA and Cellist with the Stockton Symphony.
Sasha has been teaching music and playing professionally for more than fifteen years.
She was born in Russia and educated at one of the finest Russian Conservatories of Music,
the Novosibirsk Glinka State Consevatory, near Academ-gorodok. At the age of 18, she
began teaching children self-expression through listening to music and creating images in
drawings and poetry, introducing them to different musical styles. She also taught piano to
instrumentalists and chamber music classes to pianists; led a children's cello ensemble;
and prepared students for music competitions. She was assistant principal cellist at the
Novosibirsk Theater of Music before moving to California in 1998. She is also assistant
principal cellist with the North State Symphony in Chico, and is active in chamber music
ensembles as well as playing for private engagements. She is currently accepting new
cello and piano students.

Greg Bouelette, Guitar, has been playing music for over forty years starting with
piano at age five. He grew up in a musical family where his mother was his first piano
teacher, his grandfather had his own jazz band and all his uncles were professional
musicians. Therefore, it is natural that Greg plays more than just one instrument. He has
studied classical guitar with Rueben Delgado, jazz with recording artists Bob Hahn and Carl
Verhayen (who went on to play guitar with The Moody Blues). His fascination with
bluegrass and old time music led Greg to take up the Mandolin and Banjo as well as
